How Geostick implemented a paperless production workflow

What does it really take to eliminate paper from a label printing operation?

For label converters looking to improve production efficiency and reduce manual processes, going paperless is often one of the most impactful steps in a digital transformation journey. By replacing paper job tickets with digital workflows, printing companies can improve communication, reduce errors, and respond more quickly to customer changes.

In this interview recorded by Inkish.TV at Labelexpo, Patrick Berveling from Geostick explains how the Dutch label printing company successfully transitioned to a paperless production environment. What began as a simple frustration with a malfunctioning office printer soon became a company-wide initiative to modernize workflows and increase operational efficiency.

The transition was not without challenges. Like many label converters, Geostick had employees who were comfortable working with traditional paper-based processes. Patrick recalls:

We already had a digital job ticket. Everything was there already, but we just had to take the last step to go paperless.

By building on existing digital processes rather than reinventing them, the company was able to accelerate adoption and make the move to a paperless production environment much smoother.

Today, Geostick benefits from digital job tickets, automated checks, improved flexibility for customer changes, and better visibility across production. Information is updated instantly across departments, reducing the risk of working with outdated paperwork and making it easier to move jobs between machines when production priorities change.

The project has also created a strong foundation for workflow automation. By eliminating manual handling of paper documents and introducing automated checks, Geostick has reduced administrative work while improving the flow of information throughout the business.
