#MeetTheTeam — From budgets to sing battles: Meet Freya, CERM's Business Controller

At CERM, every number tells a story — and Freya knows exactly how to read them. As our Business Controller, she combines analytical precision with a passion for teamwork. With over nine year at CERM, she's seen growth, challenge, and plenty of fun (especially when competitions are involved). We sat down with Freya to learn more about her journey — and her unexpected love of sad karaoke songs.

Q1: What's your role at CERM, and what do you love about it?

Freya: I’m the Business Controller here at CERM. I know numbers aren't for everyone, but I actually really love them. I think it's fascinating what you can learn about a company just by looking at its numbers and making reports.

There are many parts of my job that I love but one of the things I love most is the budgeting period. mIt's super intense but also really rewarding. And I always feel really proud when we candy liver solid budgets together with a whole team.

Q2: What does a typical day look like for you?

Freya : I always start by greeting my colleagues first — since we moved into the new building, there's such a great vibe between the departments that’s why I always enter the office with a smile. Then I grab a coffee and check my emails. If it's closing week, I'm usually deep into financials. If not, I focus on improving our reporting together with my colleagues and our BI-team. Some days are more structured than others, but there’s always something to dig into — and that’s what keeps it interesting.

Q3: What is one project or task you’re most proud of?

Freya : It's hard to choose just one specific project, as there have been several that I’ve really enjoyed. One that stands out was the setup of the consolidation process and the integration of the new reporting software. It gave us a lot of insight, allowed us to improve our reporting significantly, and also automate parts of the process.

Currently, we're working on linking the reporting to a BI tool, which I’m really looking forward to. It will likely become the next project I’ll be proud of.

Q4: What's something your colleagues might not know about you?

Freya: Something my colleagues don't know about me is that I can't sing but I really love to sing. I love to play Sing Star. So if there's someone who wants to do a battle with me, I'm totally in.

But a side note: I only sing the sad songs.


Q5: What makes working at CERM great?

Freya: I've been working here over nine years, actually. And for me, what I appreciate the most is the opportunities I've been given here to grow. They really invested in me and supported me to get me where I wanted to be. I'm really grateful for that.

Besides that, I love the laughs at lunch with our colleagues, the many fun events CERM organizes. Actually, at those events. there are often competitions. And I have a bit of a reputation for winning them.
