Q1: What’s your role at CERM, and what do you love about it?
Vania: My role is UI/UX Designer. I love being a UI/UX designer because it blends creativity with analytical thinking. I get to solve problems visually, backed by solid research and testing—and that mix keeps things exciting and meaningful.
Q2: What does a typical day look like for you?
Vania: No two days are exactly the same, but a typical day includes checking in with my manager to update project progress, brainstorming with colleagues, dedicating deep work time to design, conducting competitor research, or iterating based on feedback. Every week, I also host a design feedback and brainstorming session, which I really enjoy.
Q3: What’s one project or task you’re most proud of?
Vania: I’m especially proud of leading usability sessions. They’re a great way to validate ideas, gather feedback, and ensure that the solutions I’m designing are truly addressing user needs.
Q4: What’s something your colleagues might not know about you?
Vania: I’ve lived on three continents. I was born in China, moved to the U.S. with my family when I was 11, and now I’m happily settled in Brugge, Belgium with my Belgian husband.
And a fun fact: I am ambidextrous, so I can use both my right and left hand equally to write or draw.
Q5: What makes working at CERM great?
Vania: I love working at CERM because the projects are engaging and my manager truly trusts my expertise. I have plenty of creative freedom, and when I need support, it’s always there. It’s the best of both worlds!
